What won the race: Tyler Emory of King George, Va., led all 20 laps to win Friday's Jay's Automotive United Late Model Series stop at Williams Grove Speedway. Emory took the checkers 1.371 seconds ahead of Justin Weaver to earn a $4,000 payday at the historic Mechanicsburg, Pa., oval.
Quotable: "Turn one, that was a disaster, wasn't it?" Tyler Emory said in victory lane describing an opening corner spin that nearly took him out of contention. "Drake (Troutman) came down and I didn't see him coming. It took the air off the car and I got on the brake hard, and I was facing the wrong direction. ... I got lucky on that one and got my spot back; a complete restart. My tire got a little warmer, and we took off. The car was really good."
Key notes: Emory, the reigning champion of the ULMS and Appalachian Mountain Speedweek tours, earned his third career series victory, overcoming a spin on the opening circuit. ... Emory became the 87th different Super Late Model winner at Williams Grove. ... York, Pa.'s Rick Eckert and Jonestown, Pa.'s Bryan Bernheisel were the only previous Williams Grove winners racing on Friday. ... Bernheisel was fast qualifier and eventually finished sixth. ... Justin Weaver earned a runner-up finish after starting fourth. ... Second-starting Drake Troutman completed the podium finishers. ... Ryan Montgomery advanced two positions and finished fourth. ... The feature lasted 20 minutes, with all 12 starters running at the finish. ... Logan Zarin scratched from the main event lineup after suffering mechanical woes in hot laps.
On the move: Michael Lake of Uniontown, Pa., started 12th and finished sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Emory's Cameron, Mann, Emory family-owned Rocket Chassis has a Pro Power Racing Engine and sponsorship from Coombs Bus & Truck Service, Total Machine LLC, Cameron Construction, PSI Pax, Inc., E-Labs, Carruth & Son Concrete Inc., Garner Mid-Atlantic Construction, B&L Hauling, C.A.B Electric LLC, Pre-Mach, Inc., K&L Pumping & Septic, Keyser Manufacturing, Integra Shocks and Hoosier Tire.
