What won the race: Winning for the first time at Columbus Speedway in MSCCS competition, hometown driver Brian Rickman outran series points leader Chad Thrash for a $3,000 victory on the Mississippi State Championship Challenge tour, which wrapped up its 2021 season Saturday at Columbus Speedway.
Key notes: Brian Rickman earned his second Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series victory of the season and his 11th career MSCCS win. ... He overtook David Ashley of Zachary, La., for eighth all-time on the series win list. … Brian Rickman's previous MSCCS victory came Aug. 7 at Outlaw Speedway in Perkinston, Miss. … Columbus is familiar territory for the MSCCS. The long-running tour visited the track in consecutive seasons from 2001-2008 and from 2012-2018, making 29 appearances at the track on the east side of Columbus. … Columbus hosted the first-ever MSCCS race, kicking off the series on March 16, 2001 with Bill Frye of Greenbrier, Ark., picking the win.
