What won the race: Polesitter Joey Tanner of Portland, Ore., led all 40 laps unchallenged in winning Saturday's I-5 Silver Bullet Late Model Series season finale at Willamette Speedway, collecting $5,000, his 12th Willamette victory of the season and the NASCAR weekly national points title. Tanner took the checkers 1.284 seconds ahead of fifth-starting Bricen James for his sixth I-5 tour victory of the season and second consecutive series championship.

Quotable: "What a night. What a year. Thank you (track owners) Cory and Sandy (Penfold) for going NASCAR, giving us this platform, this opportunity to do something special. We had a really good year and just didn’t miss, tonight was just the capper," Tanner said. "It got a little sketchy there, I knew Bricen (James) was catching me in traffic, I couldn’t really do nothing about it. I was trying to pass them respectfully and not run over anybody, but man, what a night."

Key notes: Four of Tanner's six I-5 Series victories this season came at Willamette as he clinched the track championship on top of the $47,000 NASCAR weekly title. ... Tanner's national notoriety marked the first time in 26 years that the weekly national champ was a dirt-track competitor. ... His 14th career I-5 triumph ties him with Collen Winebarger for first on the tour's all-time list. ... Fifth-starting Bricen James grabbed second from Ian Whisler on the fourth lap and trailed Tanner by as much as 2.312 seconds after a lap-19 restart; James consistently ran quicker lap times over the race's second half, cutting Tanner's advantage as low as 0.297 of a second before Tanner pulled away over the final seven laps. ... Eston Whisler (lap 15) and the 17th-starting Winebarger (lap 26) both slipped by Ian Whisler, dropping him to finish fifth as the final starter to complete 40 laps. ... Preston Luckman improved seven positions to finish sixth. ... Second-starting Darren Coffell, Tanner's car owner, challenged Tanner on the opening lap before retiring from 11th on lap 18. ... The race was halted by a lone caution on lap 19 when Greg Walters slowed with a flat left-rear tire; Walters continued to finish seventh after pitting. ...
