What won the race: Seizing the moment when pacesetter Dan Ebert slid sideways off turn four heading to the two-to-go signal, Cody Overton of Evans, Ga., shot into the lead through turns one and two and stayed ahead for the final circuits circuits to capture Saturday night’s 40th annual Speedway Motors WISSOTA 100 at I-94 EMR Speedway. Overton drove Scott Ward’s No. 37 across the finish line 0.955 of a second ahead of Sammy Mars for the $10,000 victory in the 50-lap feature with Ebert settling for third after leading laps 12-48.

Quotable: “Oh, man, I hate it for Dan (Ebert),” Overton said. “He definitely had the car to beat, and I guess I took advantage of it. We’ve busted our butts on this thing, just working and working, and I just can't get comfortable, but we went through the whole thing today and it’s getting better. But Dan, he still had the fastest car here by far, and I hate it for him.”

Key notes: Overton’s first career WISSOTA 100 triumph was his second WISSOTA-sanctioned win of the 2026 season after a June 7 Challenge Series victory at Casino Speedway in Watertown, S.D., also piloting a car fielded by Watertown veteran Scott Ward. … Overton's usual ride is owned by James Trantina III, the promoter of I-94 EMR Speedway who also fields Ebert's equipment. ... Ebert, the moonlighting Lucas Oil Series regular who earlier Saturday afternoon won a 20-lap qualifying feature postponed by rain from Friday, appeared in control after passing Cole Searing for the lead on lap 12 and building a nearly 3-second edge late in the distance as Overton and Mars traded sliders for second. But a scrape with a lapped car off turn four sent Ebert sideways coming to lap 48, allowing Overton and Mars to charge by and not leaving Ebert enough time to recover. … Mars, who won Thursday’s 20-lap preliminary feature, was a dejected runner-up. Twice he seemed primed to overtake Ebert for the lead only to be stymied by caution flags. … Searing led laps 1-12 before slowing on lap 16 while running second due to a broken left-front lower control arm bolt. The winner of Wednesday’s rain-postponed 40-lap Challenge Series season finale retired from the race. … Dave Mass, who won Tuesday’s 40-lap Challenge Series feature at I-94 that served as an unofficial warmup for the WISSOTA 100, finished ninth in Saturday’s finale. … A red flag was displayed on lap six for a grinding turn-three wreck triggered by contact between Thomas Weisgram and Travis Saurer. Jayson Good then piled into Saurer’s car and Charlie Olsen slammed Good’s machine, but all drivers emerged uninjured. … The 36-minute race was slowed by four caution flags and concluded at 9:33 p.m. … Jordan Tollakson spun in turns three and four to negate the original three-wide start. … Searing’s trouble brought out a lap-12 caution while Mike Stearns spun to the inside of turn two for a pause on lap 25. … Tallakson spun again on lap 38 in a tandem twirl with Danny Vang. … The unique four-day WISSOTA Late Model special was capped by Saturday’s 33-car feature that started with an Indy 500-style 11 rows of three cars.
