What won the race: Elevated to the victory after apparent winner Forrest Trent's tech penalty, Kaede Loudy of Rogersville, Tenn., notched his first career Super Late Model victory Sunday at Tazewell Speedway. Loudy, who led the first 11 laps and took the checkers 2.188 seconds behind Trent, earned $5,400 for his first Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series victory. Trent's car failed postrace tech inspection for deck height and he was placed fifth in the finishing order.
Quotable: "That's, definitely not how I want to win my first one. Me and Forrest are really good buddies and he ain't raced in like six months and he asked me to come help him. I used to crew for him," Loudy said. "I got his car ready for him and, I didn't check (the deck height) and I guess nobody else did. I hate that for him. He had a really good car, but luck's not been on our side a lot and I guess tonight it was."
Key notes: Kaede Loudy led the first 11 laps from the pole before Travis Fultz blew past on the backstretch to take command. ... Fultz, looking to repeat his 2025 Buddy Rogers Memorial victory, led laps 12-31 before Forrest Trent, seeking his first SAS victory, went by with a turn-four slide job and built a comfortable lead. ... Fultz slowed on the 41st lap for the race's lone caution and restarted on the tail. ... Trent took the checkers comfortably ahead of Loudy, but he failed the tour's droop rule measurement. ... Apparent third-place finisher Brandon Williams also failed the droop and was place ninth in the final rundown. ... The 13-minute feature concluded at 9:55 p.m. ... Eight drivers completed 44 laps. ... Richard Bailey scratched from the feature. ... The 19th annual Buddy Rogers Memorial honored the Knoxville, Tenn., racer who died in 2008 after a bout with cancer.
On the move: David Payne of Murphy, N.C., started eighth and finished third.
