As the tire specialist for Lance Landers’s powerhouse Double L Racing operation, Tyler Breashears is one of the hard-working but largely anonymous crew members that make the Dirt Late Model world go round.

In another competitive realm, however, Breashears is a “pretty big deal,” said Jason Durham, the crew chief on the Landers machines driven by 2018 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion Jonathan Davenport.

Family team shines

Dirt Late Model racing rarely sees an outcome like the one that occurred in Sept. 29's inaugural Keystone Cup at Bedford (Pa.) Speedway. Arguing otherwise isn’t even making conversation.

A modest, family-owned team that races exclusively at one track — and, what’s more, made a mere 11 starts in 2018 — winning a race boasting a whopping $15,000 first-place payoff? Nah, it just doesn’t happen. That’s too fairy tale of a story in the division’s modern era.
