When Mack Gordon penned the lyrics for the popular song Paris in the Spring, he’d obviously never been to Mississippi in the Fall. Gordon, a Polish-born composer who lived most of his life in New York, was nominated for an Oscar nine times in 11 years.

About time, the great hallucinogen

During a sermon one Sunday, our pastor said that the rate or speed that time passes doesn’t change as we get older. Instead, our perception of time changes.

For some reason that’s all that stuck with me that day. It’s so true though. It’s only our perception that time flies now that we’re busy adults. It’s this same perception that distorts facts over time as well.

I’m convinced in fact that time is perhaps one of the world’s greatest hallucinogens.
