Overton's DQ rewards Diekemper at Oglethorpe

SAVANNAH, Ga. (June 3) – Robert Diekemper of Bloomingdale, Ga., was awarded the victory in Friday night's $2,000-to-win Rumble On The River 40 for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series at Oglethorpe Speedway Park after the right-rear tire of apparent winner Brandon Overton of Appling, Ga., was found to have been chemically altered during post-race technical inspection.
Diekemper followed Overton from the second lap to the checkered flag, but moved into the winner’s circle after the disqualification. Chris Cantrell of Chester, S.C., was awarded the runner-up finish while Bob Robertson of Evans, Ga., claimed third. Two-time series champion David Earl Gentry of Murfreesboro, Tenn., finished fourth and current series points leader Dan Breuer of Troutman, N.C., finished fifth after starting 22nd.
The tour moves to Screven Motor Speedway in Slyvania, Ga., Saturday night for a $2,500-to-win event.
