Davenport gets $10,000 Fastrak victory at WVMS
MINERAL WELLS, W. Va. (July 10) — Continuing his impressive season, Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., earned another $10,000 payday Saturday, capturing the Fastrak-sanctioned West Virginia State Championship at West Virginia Motor Speedway. Davenport started sixth in the event for Crate Late Models and overtook leader Mike Pegher Jr., of Wexford, Pa., midway through the 50-lap feature.
David Smith of Inman, S.C., advanced from his 10th-place starting position to finish second at the 5/8-mile oval, while Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., finished third. Kenny Peeples Jr. of Rural Retreat, Va., finished fourth ahead of Mark Banal of St. Clairsville, Ohio. Pegher ended up sixth.
