Dates: Aug. 30-Sept. 1 (a $5,000-to-win steel-head engine Late Model program on Friday and a $5,000-to-win unsanctioned Super Late Model program on Saturday followed by Sunday’s $30,000-to-win Lucas Oil Series program)

Track: Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, W.Va. (1/4-mile high-banked clay oval)

Sanction: Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series (finale only)

Purse: $30,000-to-win, $1,200-to-start ($5,000-to-win on Saturday)

Notes: This marks the 51st annual Hillbilly 100, a crown-jewel event that began in 1967 at Pennsboro (W.Va.) Speedway. … Don Gregory of Columbus, Ohio, won the inaugural Hillbilly 100 … The race is sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series. … Sunday’s format includes time trials, heats, consolation races and the 100-lap main event. … A complete program for steel-head engine Late Models, dubbed the Hillbilly 50, is set for Friday paying $5,000 to win and a complete program for unsanctioned Super Late Models, called the Outhouse 30, is on tap for Saturday paying $4,000 to win. … The Hillbilly 50 winner also earns a guaranteed starting spot in Sunday’s Hillbilly 100. … Last season’s weekend winners included Brandon Overton with his first career Hillbilly 100 victory; Jacob Hawkins with his second straight Hillbilly 50 win for steel block Late Models; Mike Pegher Jr. in the Brown Jug 30 for Crate Late Models; and Colton Burdette in the Outhouse 30. … Action on both Saturday and Sunday also includes a $2,000-to-win race for Crate Late Models. … There have been 32 different winners, including 22 who have only one Hillbilly 100 trophy to their credit. … Ten different drivers have multiple Hillbilly 100 wins, led by Bob Wearing Sr., of Evans City, Pa., who has four. … Davey Johnson, Donnie Moran, Jack Boggs, Rodney Combs and Scott Bloomquist have each won the event three times. … Bloomquist has won three of the last eight. … Gene McNeely of Charleston and Rodney Combs of Lost Creek are the only two home state drivers to win the event.
