What won the race: Making a third-to-first move on the 14th lap under Tim McCreadie and Brandon Sheppard, fast qualifier Hudson O'Neal of Martinsville, Ind., led the rest of Friday's 40-lap World of Outlaws Late Model Series Hawkeye 100 prelim at Maquoketa Speedway for a $12,000 victory. The third-starting O'Neal took the checkers 2.095 seconds ahead of McCreadie with Ricky Thornton Jr. third in the nonstop event.
Quotable: "I just tried to bide my time and move around and try and find the loose dirt and run through that as best as I could," O'Neal said. "I thought this thing raced really good. We raced all over it, all the way from hanging the right rear over the top to hitting the uke tires with the left front. So a lot of fun whenever a racetrack's like that."

O'Neal, who lapped all but 13 competitors in winning his Maquoketa debut, notched his third WoO victory of the season and sixth of his career. ... In prelims, WoO points leader Bobby Pierce's car failed to fire for the third heat race necessitating a push to the pits; he qualified through the night's second consolation. ... Ethan Dotson spun in the second heat after contact with Tristan Chamberlain on the opening lap. ...
