What won the race: Winning back-to-back starts for the first time in nearly three years, polesitter Zack Dohm of Cross Lanes, W.Va., overtook race-long leader Freddie Carpenter on the 18th lap Saturday at Skyline Speedway en route to a Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Serie victory. Dohm took the checkers 0.611 of a second ahead of series points leader Colten Burdette and won his first start since an unsanctioned $10,000 victory at 201 Speedway in Sitka, Ky.
Key notes: Zack Dohm notched his second victory of the season and becomes the tour's 12th winner in 13 races. ... His July 4 victory at 201 Speedway snapped a nearly two-year victory drought. ... Freddie Carpenter led the first 17 laps but after losing the lead to Dohm slipped to third a lap later behind Colten Burdette. ... A single caution slowed the action on the 23rd lap. ... The 11-minute feature concluded at 10:26 p.m. ... Fifteen of 22 starters completed 30 laps. ... Three drivers retired, including Michael Chilton after competing 21 laps. ... The event was completed at Skyline after being postponed three times during a rain-plagued season at the Jeff Burdette-owned oval.
On the move: Chris Carpenter of Parkersburg, W.Va., the third-place finisher's son, started 18th and finished sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Dohm’s Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Vic Hill Racing Engine and sponsored by Tim Short Auto Group, Dohm Cycles Racing, Way Floor Covering, Dohm Farm, Daggett Rentals, Graphic Creations and Bilstein Shocks.
Points chase: Before Skyline: 1. Colten Burdette (650); 2. Rod Conley (583); 3. Seth Daniels (534); 4. Miles Cook II (533); 5. R.J. Conley (476).
