What won the race: Inheriting the lead when race-long pacesetter Chandler Petty jumped the turn-two cushion on a lap-23 restart, polesitter Morgan Bagley of Longview, Texas, led the final eight laps of Friday's 30-lap Battle at the Bluff at Poplar Bluff Motorsports Park. Bagley beat Kyle Beard by 1.523 seconds for the $10,000 top prize, his first victory of the season and 10th career of his career on the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series.
Key notes: Bagley notched his first win since last Sept. 12's $5,000 Comp Cams Series visit to Revolution Park in Monroe, La. ... Second-starting Chandler Petty led the opening 22 laps before hopping the turn-two cushion and slipping to third on a lap-23 restart. Petty held third until giving way to Timothy Culp on lap 29 then limped home to finish ninth with an overheating engine and flat right-rear tire. ... Sixth-starting Kyle Beard inherited third after Petty's lap-23 gaffe. ... Chris Bragg improved 10 positions to finish sixth. ... Points leader Cade Dillard, winner of the first three Comp Cams races this season entering Friday, rebounded to finish 10th after slowing from second with a flat right rear on the sixth lap. Dillard was also involved in the race's sixth caution on a lap-23 restart attempt that eliminated Billy Moyer and Jon Kirby; Moyer was also hampered by a flat right-rear on lap 21. ... Four other cautions slowed the action, the first on lap two when Tanner English slowed and retired; he wrote later on Facebook that he decided to forfeit his fifth starting spot and only take the green flag save his 2-race-old AK Race Car "for another day." ... Bobby Allen had a hard backstretch crash that required a brief red flag for cleanup on lap seven. ... Drew Armstrong slowed from 13th for the race's fifth caution on lap 23. ... Fifth-running Tyler Wolff spun for the seventh and final slowdown on lap 28. ... It was the first Comp Cams race at Poplar Bluff in a little more than two years; the race lasted 40 minutes with 12 starters completing 30 laps.
On the move: Eli Ross of Muskogee, Okla., started 23rd and finished eighth.
