What won the race: Polesitter Tucker Anderson of Blairsville, Ga., led all 40 laps unchallenged in winning Friday's Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series return to Hartwell Motor Speedway. Anderson took the checkers 2.109 seconds ahead of Trent Ivey to capture the $4,000 payday, his second series win this season and fourth of his career.
Key notes: Anderson added to his March 6 SAS victory at Penton (Ala.) Raceway, worth $5,000. ... It was his third overall win of the season after also topping the Feb. 6 Ultimate 604 Crate Series season opener at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Ga. ... Trent Ivey trailed Anderson for all 40 laps but never truly challenged for the lead. ... Making a rare Super Late Model start, Dale Timms briefly held third for laps 12-14 before giving way to Wil Herrington and slowing a few laps later. Timms was credited with 12th. ... The fifth-starting Herrington finished third. ... Two-time and reigning series champ Billy Franklin inherited fourth when Timms pulled off. ... Dillon Daves gained eight spots to finish eighth, the final starter running at the finish. ... The race was slowed by four cautions, the first coming on lap 15 when Brent Dixon and Cody Overton were eliminated as they battled for fifth. ... A couple lap-15 restart cautions ensued before Timms slowed from fourth for the final yellow flag on lap 17. ... Seven starters completed the distance in the 33-minute 40-lapper. … It was the first SAS event at Hartwell since Chris Madden won $4,000 on Aug. 30, 2008, and the first major Late Model touring race since July 16, 2009, a $3,500 Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals stop won by Casey Roberts. ...
