Josh Putnam (212) powers by Sam Seawright (16) in the closing laps.
What won the race: Overtaking race-long pacesetter Sam Seawright in turn four on the final lap as they battled through lapped traffic, second-starting Josh Putnam of Florence, Ala., captured Saturday night's $6,000 Bama 100 finale at Xtreme Speedway. Putnam beat Seawright to the checkers by 0.894 of a second to gain retribution after Seawright passed him in the closing laps to win Friday's $4,000 opener.
Quotable: “I knew when we run second in that heat race, I knew I was gonna have my work cut out, cause I mean Sam (Seawright) is just like I am, he can get up on the wheel and drive the s—t out of that thing,” Putnam said. “You know last night, there was some people thought we were mad, like I was never mad at Sam. I mean, yeah, I got into him down there cause we kinda banged doors and stuff, but it’s heat of the moment,” Putnam added, “(it’s) just a good racecar, it’s been balanced, it’s been good the last month or so, we just haven’t had any results to show it.”
Key notes: Putnam secured his second unsanctioned Super Late Model special at Xtreme, formerly known as Moulton (Ala.) Speedway, since Oct. of 2018, worth $3,000. ... Sam Seawright settled for second after leading the opening 59 laps from the pole; Seawright muscled his way by Putnam with three laps to go, to win Friday's $4,000 Bama 100 opener. ... Mario Gresham improved eight positions and completed the top-five finishers. … Second-starting Oakley Johns retired on lap 54. … The main event lasted 29 minutes, with six starters completing 60 laps. ... Grayson Brewer and Easton Bollinger scratched.
On the move: Luke Morey of Zeeland, Mich., started 11th and finished third.
