Chad Homan picked up the $3,000 victory at Genesee Speedway.
What won the race: Outrunning front-row starters John Waters and Joe Martin, fourth-starting Chad Homan of Penfield, N.Y., captured his first RUSH Crate Late Model Series victory Saturday at Genesee Speedway, earning $3,000. He finished 1.196 seconds ahead of Waters while Martin, who led the first 11 laps before Homan took command, was third.
Quotable: “This is a bucket list for my Crate Late Model career to win one of these, so it wouldn’t be complete until we finally did it," Homan said. "We don’t run a whole lot of these races, but I’ve been trying for more than six years to get one."
Key notes: Homan was coming off a two-victory weekend in Crate Late Model action, including at Genesee. ... Martin posted his fourth consecutive podium finish on the tour. ... Cody Dawson was sixth in his Genesee debut. ... Cautions appeared for Aaron Miller (lap-10 spin) and Jimmy Johnson (lap 11). ... Jon Rivers, who blew a brakeline in his heat race, won the non-qualifiers' feature. ... The 36 entries was a series high at Genesee.
