What won the race: Two weeks removed from his stirring Sunoco North-South 100 victory, polesitter Josh Rice of Crittenden, Ky., led all 50 laps of the C.J. Rayburn Tribute at Circle City Raceway for a $10,000 Northern Allstars Late Model Series victory. The three-time series champ took the checkers 2.602 seconds ahead of ninth-starting Ryan Unzicker for his sixth career Northern Allstars victory.
Quotable: "That was fun. I had a really good car all night, really," Rice said, thanking Mark Richards of Rocket Chassis. "I won hot laps, won qualifying, won heat race, swept the whole night. Mark's got us on a really good program right now. It's good to get back home and at familiar places."
Key notes: Rice notched his fourth victory of the season and first since his $75,000 Lucas Oil Series triumph at his home track of Florence Speedway in Union, Ky. ... MARS Championship Series points leader Ryan Unzicker, who started ninth, finished second followed by fellow Illinoisan and eighth-starting Frank Heckenast Jr., whose car was trailing smoke late. ... Tanner English and Carson Ferguson made contact a couple of times near halfway in battling for second. ... Two cautions slowed the race, the first on the 37th lap when Josh Lank Jr. came to a stop inside the frontstretch. ...
