Dave Mass en route to his first Challenge Series victory of the season.
What won the race: Dave Mass of East Bethel, Minn., fired off from the outside front row and overcame several restarts to lead all 40 laps of Sunday's Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series weekend finale at Granite City Motor Park. Mass beat 13th-starting Shane Sabraski to the line by 0.649 of a second for the $3,000 payday, his first Challenge Series victory of the season and third of his career.
Key notes: Mass, the reigning Challenge Series champ, stuck primarily to Granite City's high line in capturing his first tour victory since Aug. 29, 2025, at Grand Rapids (Minn.) Speedway. ... Mass notched his his sixth overall feature win of the season and second at Granite City, including a June 21 WISSOTA Late Model victory, to go along with four wins at I-94 EMR Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minn. ... Shane Sabraski tiptoed around the extreme inside of Granite City's wide surface, taking second from Billy Kendall on a lap-39 restart, but failed to seriously challenge Mass on a two-lap dash to the checkers. ... Points leader Kevin Burdick powered around Kendall on the late restart, dropping Kendall to fourth. ... Rookie Dexton Koch slipped as low as 11th before rallying to finish fifth on the strength of lap-36 and lap-39 restarts. ... Jeff Massingill, a two-time Challenge Series winner at Granite City, overcame a lap-three spin and climbed eight positions to finish sixth. ... Cole Searing, who entered seeking the weekend sweep after winning Thursday at KRA Speedway in Willmar, Minn., and Friday at Princeton (Minn.) Speedway, worked his way as high as fourth on a lap-24 restart before fading to finish eighth. ... Besides the caution for Massingill's lap-three spin, the race was slowed three other times, including twice for spoiler debris on laps 24 and 36. ... Polesitter Ryan Mikkelson's spoiler damaged drew the lap-36 caution and Mikkelson finished 14th after series officials took several minutes to remove his flapping right-rear quarterpanel. ... Taylor Madrinich slowed with a flat right-front tire for the final stoppage on lap 39. ... The 40-lapper lasted 27 minutes with 16 starters completing the distance.
