Jason Feger (25) makes the winning pass by Ryan Unzicker (24).
What won the race: Muscling his way under Ryan Unzicker racing towards the white flag, polesitter Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., led the final two laps in winning Friday's 40-lap DIRTcar Summer Nationals feature at Farmer City Raceway. Feger led twice for 25 laps (1-23, 39-40) and beat Unzicker by 1.310 seconds after Unzicker twice tangled with a lapped car, to collect a $10,000 paycheck and his 38th career Summer Nationals victory, his third of the season.
Quotable: "The car was really good early in the race and then the handling just started going away," Feger said before later adding, "I didn’t have anything for Ryan (Unzicker) there on that (lap-25) restart, he was driving away from me it felt like, cause I had no traction. I was way too tight getting in and the way lapped traffic went, it was my night to be lucky."
Key notes: Feger led all but 15 laps for his third Summer Nationals victory at Farmer City and second consecutive (2016, '25-'26). ... He adds to Hell Tour wins this season at Coles County Speedway in Mattoon Ill. (June 12) and Wilmot (Wis.) Raceway (June 15). ... Third-starting Ryan Unzicker slid by Feger on a lap-24 restart and took control just before the third and final caution flew as they completed the 24th lap. Unzicker was mired in traffic late, opening the door for Feger to dive under the leader entering turn three on the 39th lap. … As Feger regained the lead, Unzicker tangled with the slower car of Mitch McGrath and nearly spun on the frontstretch, allowing Feger to pull away. ... Unzicker, who led laps 24-38, settled for second. ... Clay Stuckey held third for all 40 laps and nipped 15th-starting Tanner English by 0.040 of a second to round out the podium. ... The race was slowed by three cautions, the first on lap 12 when fourth-running Cade Dillard tangled with Mark Voigt and spun as he attempted to put him a lap down; Voigt retired while Dillard continued until tangling with Timmy Dick and spinning again as they battled for 15th on the 24th lap. ... The final stoppage came just after Unzicker took the lead from Feger on the lap-24 restart when McGrath and Hammer made contact as they battled for fourth, sending McGrath spinning in turn four, collecting McKay Wenger and Shannon Babb, among others. … The 40-lapper lasted 25 minutes with 14 starters completing the distance. ... Jake Rainey pulled off on the fourth lap after trailing heavy, blue smoke during prelims.
On the move: Tanner English of Benton, Ky., started 15th and finished fourth.
