What won the race: Taking control from early leader Anthony Sanders on a lap-13 restart, eighth-starting Layton Sullivan of Gaffney, S.C., led the rest of Saturday's 35-lap Cagle Automotive Blue Ridge Outlaw Series stop at Wythe Raceway. Sullivan stretched his advantage to a distant 4.441 seconds over Terry Caples at the checkers, capturing his first career Blue Ridge Outlaws victory and third overall win of the 2026 season.
Key notes: Sullivan, who marched from fifth-to-first in nine laps and paced the final 23 circuits, secured his first career victory aboard a steel-block powered Late Model, adding to two 604 Crate wins this season at his home track of Cherokee Speedway. ... His last major event triumph came in last April 11's Daniel Lambert Memorial at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Ga., worth $10,000 on the Crate Racin' USA 604 Series. ... Anthony Sanders, who remains the only two-time Blue Ridge winner this season, led the opening 12 laps from the pole before giving way to Sullivan on a lap-13 restart and eventually backsliding to finish fifth. ... Ninth-starting Terry Caples took second on lap 20 but never had anything for Sullivan over the race's second half. ... Dillon Brown slipped by Sanders for third on a lap-23 restart with Yarbrough taking fourth a lap later. ... Justin Hobgood climbed four positions to finish sixth. ... Ben Gable finished seventh in his series debut. ... The race was halted by three cautions, most notably when second-running Bryan Mullis slowed on the seventh lap before retiring. ... Kennie Compton Jr., winner of the night's Southern Wedge Late Model Association feature, pulled off on the 10th lap. ... Eighth-running Dalton Hodge retired under the race's second stoppage on lap 13. ... Pat Lindsay appeared to be eliminated during the final yellow flag on lap 23. ... The 35-lap feature lasted 17 minutes with nine starters completing the distance.
On the move: Runner-up Terry Caples of Sumter, S.C., started ninth.
