Anthony Sanders earned his first feature victory in nearly five years.
What won the race: Fast-qualifying polesitter Anthony Sanders of Spartanburg, S.C., cruised to the $3,500 Cagle Automotive Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Models victory in Saturday's Steve Heintz Memorial at Carolina Speedway. Sanders finished 0.463 of a second ahead of Bryan Mullis for his first major event victory since Oct. 9, 2021's Ed Gibbons Memorial at Sumter (S.C.) Speedway, worth $5,007 in Carolina Clash Series action.
Key notes: Sanders controlled Saturday’s fourth annual Steve Heintz Memorial, leading from start to finish after earning fast qualifier honors and winning the dash in Friday's preliminary action. … Austin Yarbrough of Denver, N.C., who was slated to start ninth, was one of seven drivers who scratched from the 30-lap feature. … Defending event winner Kyle Hardy was one of the evening’s hard chargers, advancing 11 positions to finish seventh.
On the move: Matt Long of Concord, N.C., started 23rd and finished eighth.
Winner's sponsors: Sanders drives a Longhorn Chassis sponsored by Big A's Custom Graphics and Sanders Headliners.
