Kyle Bronson’s team celebrates his $10,000 victory at Cochran.
What won the race: Kyle Bronson of Brandon, Fla., made a rare Crate Racin' USA start, leading all 50 laps at Cochran Motor Speedway and winning Saturday's $10,000 No Foolin' Foray feature. Bronson collected his second five-figure CRUSA payday at Cochran after winning $10,000 there in 2020.
Quotable: “The car hasn’t been raced in at least a year and and half because we had two new cars delivered, and that one was put in a corner until tonight,” Bronson said. “Mark (Whitener) called me early last week and told me he had a motor ready and waiting, and to come get it. It’s always been a good car for us, and it was really good tonight.”
Key notes: Trynt Lloyd advanced three positions and finished second, 2.584 seconds back. ... Polesitter Cody Overton initially appeared to lead the first lap before the race's first caution called for a complete restart, allowing Bronson to get the jump and lead every lap. Overton battled Lloyd for a majority of the race before settling for third. ... Parker Martin gained two spots and finished fourth. ... Mark Whitener moved forward five positions and finished seventh. ... Defending Crate Racin' USA national champion Jason Welshan finished eighth. ... Saturday's feature, the 11th CRUSA series visit to Cochran and the opener of its 19th season, was slowed by three cautions and lasted 22 minutes, with 17 competitors completing all 50 laps.
On the move: Wil Herrington of Hawkinsville, Ga., started 18th and finished sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Bronson’s Rocket Chassis was powered by an H&R Racing Engine borrowed from Mark Whitener with sponsorship from Racecar Engineering, J&M Engine Transport Refrigeration, Borchers Equipment, Angry Elephant Tattoo and Piercing, Multi Fire, Lucas Oil, VP Race Fuels, Boswell Oil, Integra Shocks and Midwest Sheet Metal.
Points chase: After Cochran: 1. Kyle Bronson (100); 2. Trynt Lloyd (96); 3. Cody Overton (94); 4. Parker Martin (92); 5. Blake Craft (90).
