The winning team celebrates in Duck River’s victory lane.
What won the race: Christian Hanger of Winchester, Tenn., led all 40 laps from the pole at Duck River Raceway Park, winning Saturday's Winterfest feature and collecting $4,000. Hanger earned his first career Topless Outlaw Dirt Racing Series victory and will compete for the weekend sweep in Sunday's $5,000-to-win unsanctioned Super Late Model event.
Quotable: "We was good, I heard them boys back there the whole race." Hanger said. "I think the biggest problem early on I was just kinda trying to get too much out of the racetrack and out of the car and realized I just need to slow down and make better consistent laps."
Key notes: Oakley Johns traded the runner-up position with Jadon Frame several times throughout the race, prevailing to finish 0.809 of a second behind Hanger, with Frame finishing third. ... Tyler Wood advanced three positions and finished fourth. ... Mark Haddon overcame an early spin and gained 10 spots to finish eighth at his home track. ... Winner of last year's Topless Outlaw season finale at Boyd's Speedway Ronnie Johnson retired on lap 29 and finished 16th. ... Saturday's feature, a non-points event to kickoff the Topless Outlaw Series season, was slowed by seven cautions and lasted 32 minutes, with 14 competitors completing all 40 laps.
On the move: Mark Haddon of Wheel, Tenn., started 18th and finished eighth.
Winner's sponsors: Hanger’s Capital Race Car is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by Hanger’s Hardwood Flooring, Clay-Clay Farms, H&W Custom Glass, Hanger’s Farms, Burke’s Home Improvements & New Construction, Moore’s Lawn Care, Joe Joe Dobson Skid Steer Services and Slicker Graphics.
Points chase: It was a non-points event for the Topless Outlaws.
