Carson Ferguson takes the checkers for $10,053 at Swainsboro.
What won the race: Third-starting Carson Ferguson of Lincolnton, N.C., took the lead on lap 23 and paced the final 30 circuits Saturday at Swainsboro Raceway to earn $10,053 and his second career Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals tour victory. Early Pearson Lee Williams finished second in the caution-free makeup event.
Key notes: Ferguson's first Southern Nationals win paid $4,053 on July 21 at Senoia (Ga.) Raceway. ... Pearson Lee Williams of Dublin, Ga., led the first 22 laps from the pole before being overtaken by Ferguson and finished 4.965 seconds back. ... Dalton Cook ran inside the top-three all race and rounded out the podium. ... Ross Bailes advanced one position and finished fifth. ... Parker Martin gained two spots and finished seventh. ... Saturday's feature, a rare October event for the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals tour after this race was rain-postponed from July 24, was completed without incident and lasted 14 minutes, with nine competitors completing all 53 laps.
