It’s probably an injustice to point out that Dale McDowell is one of the nicest guys in racing, because that statement might imply that he’s been anything less than a stellar racer for nearly 30 years.

Rarely do I agree with racetracks when they cancel races early in the day. That’s the racer/fan in me. It’s always a bummer to get set for a race weekend and then have the rug pulled from beneath you early on a Saturday.

There are, however, definite advantages to early cancellations.

For starters, you save time. Of course you also save money by not having to buy wasted truck fuel or a pit pass. You avoid the hassle of having to wash your race car for no reason as well.
