With the racing season winding down and only a few races remaining on the 2010 schedule, many folks in the racing industry are looking forward to December and the annual racing industry trade shows. This will mark my 10th year attending the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) show, which will be held again in Orlando, Fla. It will also mark my debut at the second-year International Motorsports Industry Show (IMIS) in Indianapolis.

I feel remiss in not writing this blog earlier, but it's never too late to recognize something that needs should be applauded.

For this year’s World 100, Jeep Van Wormer and his wife Angie kicked off a fundraiser call A Head for a Cure to raise money for cancer awareness. The idea evolved when Jeep was in Australia racing in the winter of 2009 and was approached to shave his head to raise money for cancer. When you go to as many races as I do, for better or worse they often start to blend together. Few have that “special” feeling, that “it” factor that make them feel unique.

But the World Finals at the Dirt Track at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway is one of them.

Granted, it’s not a crown jewel in the typical sense of the word, but make no mistake, the three-day event in NASCAR’s backyard generates enough buzz to produce one of the biggest Dirt Late Model crowds of the entire MORE
