Believe it or not, there was one person in victory lane following Saturday night's Coors Light Fall Classic at Whynot Motorsport Park that was happier than race winner Jonathan Davenport or winning car builder Barry Wright.

That elated individual was track owner and promoter Rodney Wing, who had just watched his third-mile racetrack produce 12 lead changes among five drivers and a mind-blowing amount of three- and sometimes four-wide racing throughout the unsanctioned $15,000-to-win event.

I wasn’t a Boy Scout, but there’s something about that being prepared motto they have. In racing, lack of preparation is a killer. As a race team, it hurts your performance at the track. As a promoter, well, it can hurt in the bank account.

Being unorganized is pretty much the same as a lack of preparation. At least I equate the two in the same fashion. I like to race as much as the next guy, but I also like to have some semblance of a plan before I do so.
