Every once in a while, you hear a story of an underdog having a measure of success and it gives you hope. With his recent performance during the DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park, Michael Page of Douglasville, Ga., did just that.

After more than two years away, my brother and I finally got back to the racetrack as competitors (for lack of a better word) at the end of 2019. We squeezed in four races from Nov. 24 to the end of the year.

It's great to get some late-season laps in — surely there are other racers who benefit from a chance to race as winter approaches — but I'll admit that I’m not a big fan of such a lengthy racing season when I’m behind the keyboard.
