They said it at the Show-Me

The best all-time quotes at the Dart Show-Me 100, scheduled for this weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. Up until 2010 the event was held at West Plains (Mo.) Motor Speedway. The quotes were assembled from National Dirt Digest and DirtonDirt.com archives:

  • "They're harder on me than they are on anybody. Going through tech, like at the Show-Me, if my body's a little bit wide I gotta chang 'er where they might let somebody (else) slide. They treat me harder than they do anybody to make MORE

The burning desire to race

They say racing gets in your blood. I know it’s cliche, and I’m not really sure who “they” really are. But that’s what they say nonetheless. Sometimes I equate racing to an addiction. Once you get hooked, it’s hard to stop.

But often in this most humbling of sports, you sit back and question whether or not it’s worth forging ahead. After spending a couple weeks bird-dogging an engine cooling issue, we finally got back on track last week, only to have motor problems cut our night MORE

I’m not a musically talented person in any kind of way, but I’ve always enjoyed listening to music, and I’ve always liked how many songs translate well to real-life situations. MORE

Moyer's steady drumbeat

Paul Misner

The rain beat upon the roof of Billy Moyer Motorsports, creating a gentle roar that made those inside the building raise their voices ever-so-slightly. It was late Friday afternoon, and tonight’s first round of the Bad Boy 98 for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at nearby Batesville Motor Speedway was lost to the weather. There was still some question about tomorrow night’s scheduled finale; several hours of Arkansas downpours would settle that.

A few people mingled at the back of the MORE

Splitting the difference

If you, like me, have realized how much more you enjoy dirt racing when the checkered flag falls at 10 p.m. instead of midnight, you'll love Hesston (Pa.) Speedway's plans for its May 29 event.

The Memorial Day weekend event's racing program is ambitious with three Late Model features on the schedule, two for the touring UFO Race Championship Series drivers, and one for the track's regular Limited Late Model division.

At most tracks, plans for three 25-lap Late Model main events, along with MORE
