Superlatives from Volusia

Recapping the 42nd annual UNOH DIRTcar Nationals presented by Summit Racing Equipment with a list of superlatives from six nights of UMP DIRTcar and World of Outlaws Late Model Series action at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla.:

Best driver: Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., scored two victories and a runner-up finish to wrap up the DIRTcar Nationals overall title. He edged Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., for Driver of the Week honors.

Looking back on the 37th annual Dart Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park that featured six races for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at the third-mile oval just outside of Tampa:

Best driver: Don O’Neal of Martinsville, Ind., who posted five finishes of third or better in earning $5,000 for claiming the week-long Dart Winternationals points title. Reviewing the Bubba Army Winternationals at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla., where the World of Outlaws Late Model Series ran three weekend races, including the $20,000-to-win event that was the richest of Florida Speedweeks:

Best driver: Tossup between Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., and Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky. Lanigan was the class of the field in winning the first two events, but Richards finally capitalized on his always-fast Rocket Chassis house car to capture the $20,000 finale.
