RINGGOLD, Ga. (Aug. 23) — It had been a long time since the Southern Regional Racing Series had completed an event. It had been even longer since Randy Weaver visited victory lane on the SRRS tour. Leading all 40 laps in the first series event since late June, the Crossville, Tenn., driver earned $3,000 and his first SRRS victory since the 2009 season. | Slideshow

Weaver started on the pole and stayed in control all the way, taking the checkers 1.151 seconds ahead of fast qualifier Riley Hickman of Ooltewah, Tenn. Jason Welshan of Maryville, Tenn., was third followed by Tim Busha of Boaz, Ala., and Josh Putnam of Florence, Ala., who entered the race with a 10-point lead on Welshan in the SRRS title chase.

Skip Arp of Georgetown, Tenn., actually crossed the line third, but his Chuck Smith-owned No. 1s came up light at the scales and he was disqualified.

The feature was slowed by a single caution on the 15th lap when Brandon King spun in turns three and four, collecting David Payne and Austin Smith right in front of the leaders. Weaver and the others avoided contact.

Arp took the second spot from Hickman on the restart, but Hickman regained the position on lap 33 while Weaver kept both drivers in check.
