Franklin tops last-lap scramble at Gordon Park
From series reports
GROVETOWN, Ga. (May 9) — Going from third to first on the final lap, 13th-starting Dennis "Rambo" Franklin earned $4,000 at Gordon Park Speedway for his second Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series victory of the season. Ed Gibbons of Manning, S.C., started outside the front row and led throughout the race, but when he got out of shape in turn three on the final lap, second-running Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Ga., nudged the leader as both drivers got crossed up. Franklin jumped to the outside groove and edged Roberts at the line. Gibbons settled for third with Jeff Smith of Dallas, N.C., and four-time series champion Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, N.C., rounding out the top five.
