Carrier claims $3,000 victory at Southern Ohio

WHEELERSBURG, Ohio (July 13) — Continuing his dominance of Southern Ohio Speedway, Eddie Carrier Jr. of Salt Rock, W.Va., led every lap of Friday’s Southern Showdown en route to his sixth victory of the season at the 4/10-mile oval.

Carrier turned back an early challenge from Josh McGuire of Grayson, Ky., and later held off Ben Adkins of Portsmouth, Ohio, following a mid-race restart on his way to earning $3,000 in the unsanctioned, 30-lap race.

Adkins settled for the runner-up finish with Eric Christian of Getaway, Ohio, third. Carl Dillow II of Ashland, Ky., and Shannon Thornsberry of Martin, Ky., rounded out the top five while McGuire dropped back to sixth at the finish.

Notes: Carrier’s Carl Grover Motorsports-owned Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Engines Inc, VP Racing Fuels, Ohlins, Hess, Stewart and Campbell and Blue Ridge Machinery and Tools. … The victory is Carrier’s eighth overall this season and second in a row. … Carrier earned $5,000 for scoring his first UMP DIRTcar Summernationals victory Wednesday night at Brushcreek Speedway in Peebles, Ohio.
