OCALA, Fla. (June 1) — Keith Nosbisch of Valrico, Fla., outdueled Darrell Padgett of Jacksonville, Fla., in Friday night’s Powell Memorial opener at Bubba Raceway Park and picked up a $5,000 victory in the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series event.

Nosbisch first took the lead from Padgett on lap four of the 50-lapper and survived a resurgence by Padgett when he retook the lead on lap 25. Nosbisch moved back out front on lap 27 and held on for the remaining distance. | Slideshow

Padgett suffered a flat tire on lap 34, but still managed to score the runner-up finish after pitting for a new tire. Christian Augspurger of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., also suffered a flat tire during the race, but he also recovered to finish third.

Bo Allen of Bryceville, Fla., finished fourth at the 3/8-mile D-shaped racetrack while Mark Whitener of Middleburg, Fla., finished fifth, the first car a lap down to the leader.

Justin McRee of Cottondale, Ala., battled among the leaders early in the race, but fell out with mechanical problems on lap 12.
