O'Brien races to SLMRS victory at I-80 Speedway
GREENWOOD, Neb. (April 6) — Jason O'Brien of Atlantic, Iowa, took the lead midway through Friday's season opener at I-80 Speedway and raced to a $1,000 victory on the Nebraska-based Super Late Model Racing Series.
The 34-year-old O'Brien overtook Jake Meier of Tipton, Iowa, and won by a comfortable margin at the 4/10-mile oval, which continues action on Saturday with a $3,000-to-won showdown between Lucas Oil MLRA and Dart Corn Belt Clash competitors.
Mike Collins of Council Bluffs, Iowa, rallied from 13th for a runner-up finish ahead of LaVista, Neb., drivers Leon Zeitner and Justin Zeitner, who started outside the front row and led early.
