WEST PLAINS, Mo. (Oct. 15) – Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., scored a $3,000 victory in Saturday night’s Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association’s season finale at West Plains Motor Speedway, completing a sweep of the tour’s doubleheader weekend at the 3/8-mile racetrack.

"We had it right tonight," said Moyer who took the lead on lap nine. "We won last night, but it wasn't to my liking. We tweaked on some stuff. It felt like I liked it to tonight."

For the second-consecutive night, Moyer’s son Billy Moyer Jr., also of Batesville, was the runner-up finisher. John Anderson of Omaha, Neb., finished third to clinch the tour’s championship while R.C. Whitwell of Tucson, Ariz., and Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, Mo., rounded out the top five finishers. | Slideshow

Coffeyville, Kan., driver AL Purkey, Anderson’s closest challenger in the championship race and the tour’s seven-time and defending champion, finished sixth.

Anderson was happy to finally wrap up the championship.

"It really was an up and down battle," Anderson said of the season-long points race. "Me and Purkey came down to the wire together. It was a class move by both of us to make it that way. We wanted to make it good for the fans. It did get a little nerve racking knowing I was up front and just had to stay in front of him. I just had to be smart and see what I could do there at the end."
