MADISON, N.C. (Oct. 8) — Fifth-starting Jeff Smith of Dallas, N.C., ended a year-long drought on the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series with a $4,000 victory on Saturday at 311 Motor Speedway.

Luke Roffers of Concord, N.C., finished second after leading the first 31 laps in the Countdown to the Cup event while Dustin Mitchell of Pine Level, N.C., was third. Donald Bradsher of Burlington, N.C., and points leader Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, S.C., rounded out the top five. Polesitter Kenny Compton Jr. of Bland, Va., second in series points, finished 15th after rear-end gear problems forced him out on the 17th lap. | Slideshow

Among yellow flags in the main event were lap-five and lap-nine spins by Johnny Stovall, the second which stacked up 10 cars.
