Stovall grabs $5,000 in inaugural Rockabilly 45
HARRISBURG, Ark. (Sept. 10) – Jesse Stovall of Galena, Mo., raced to his first Comp Cams Super Dirt Series victory of the season Saturday night when the tour visited Northeast Arkansas Speedway for the inaugural Rockabilly 45. | Slideshow
Stovall started from the pole and led the entire distance to earn $5,000, the tour’s richest payday of the season. Jeff Floyd of Walnut Ridge, Ark., followed Stovall to the finish in the runner-up position with Crane, Mo., driver Will Vaught finishing third after start seventh. Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebannon, Mo., was fourth with Curtis Cook of Vilonia, Ark., rounding out the top five.
Notes: Stovall's Victory Circle Race Car is sponsored by Rushin Towing and Swafford's Amoco. ... Dane Dacus of Lakeland, Tenn., and Kyle Beard of Trumann, Ark., both ran in the top five early, but both fell out of the race after slipping off the top of the racetrack on separate occasions. ... The race used a preliminary format that included two sets of heat races for each driver. ... Among drivers not starting the feature: Thomas Dacus, Justin Asplin, Keith Lawson, Daniel Waters, Lane Cullum, Jessie Bailey. ... The series returns to action Oct. 1 with a $2,000-to-win event at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.
