Dave Eckrich captures first-ever MLRA victory
WHEATLAND, Mo. (Aug. 28) — Outside front-row starter Dave Eckrich of Cosgrove, Iowa, captured his first career Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association victory Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway.
Eckrich beat Brandon McCormick of Lebanon, Mo., to the checkers by a car length for a $3,000 victory and moved into the MLRA points leader over polesitter Al Purkey of Coffeyville, Kan., who led the first half of the race before hitting an infield tire barrier and damaging his car's left-front suspension. | Slideshow
R.C. Whitwell of Tucson, Ariz., turned in the best performance of his racing trip to the Midwest with a third-place finish in the New Mexico-based car owned by Jeff Sires while Mark Burgtorf of Quincy, Ill., and 15th-starting Billy Moyer Jr. of Batesville, Ark., rounded out the top five.
