'King' Delbert Smith grabs MDLMS victory at Minneapolis,
MINNEAPOLIS, Kan. (Aug. 7) — Delbert Smith of Wichita, Kan., led all 30 laps from outside the front row at Minneapolis Raceway for a $1,000 victory on the Midwest DIRTcar Late Model Series. Jerry Warner finished second followed by Jimmy Segraves, Brad Fortney and Matt Johnson, who held the second spot in the first half of the race.
Smith, who leads the second-year tour with four career victories, also won the night's King of the Hill event, a bracket-style tournament of head-to-head races among the night's competitors. Smith topped Justin Kinderknecht in the final matchup.
