Jambalaya 100 at Pike Co. pushed back a week

The first weekend in November, once covered up by three major Southern events, has been shuffled with a change of date for the $30,000-to-win Jambalaya 100, which shifts back one week to Nov. 9-10. The unsanctioned event at Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, Miss., won last year by Scott Bloomquist, was originally scheduled for Nov. 2-3.

That leaves the weekend's other major unsanctioned race, East Alabama Motor Speedway's National 100, on Nov. 3-4 for its traditional Sunday evening finale.

Of course, World of Outlaws Late Model Series will be wrapping up their final weekend of the season Nov. 1-3 at the Dirt Track at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. The good news for fans who can't make it to Lowe's is the weekend finale will be televised live on Speed channel from 8-11 p.m. EST. — From staff reports

Rogers leads AAPTS points heading into finale

Rick Rogers of Knoxville, Tenn., finds himself leading the Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series point standings heading into Saturday's Sept. 29 finale at Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, Tenn. The second-generation driver took the points lead with a fourth-place finish at Wartburg (Tenn.) Speedway and a seventh-place finish at Cleveland (Tenn.) Speedway on Sept. 21-22.

Rogers suffered some damage in a major pileup that eliminated nearly half the field at Cleveland but nursed his car to seventh.

Rogers leads Kerr by 24 points and defending series champion Anthony White by 119 points. When drivers drop their worst finishes of the season (according to series rules), Rogers would actually lead White by four points and Kerr by 30 points. The final series race is Saturday's 60-lap showdown at Mountain Raceway Park paying $5,000 to the winner. — Michael Moats

Odds and ends

The poor health of Dixie Speedway general manager Mike Swims has forced a reduction in the 2007 schedule at the Woodstock, Ga., oval and its sister track, Rome Speedway. The tracks plan only special events with the Oct. 5-6 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series doubleheader at Rome and Dixie, and then the Bill Elliott 50 scheduled for Oct. 27. ... Winchester (Tenn.) Speedway, which has been in operation for more than 50 year, is for sale at $650,000. The 26-acre property includes the quarter-mile oval, grandstand seating for 1,000 and more. Call (931) 434-0691 or (931) 649-3540 for details. ... Moulton (Ala.) Speedway has added an Oct. 2 special. The Tuesday night Late Model event is expected to include NASCAR driver Ken Schrader.
