By Todd Turner
DirtonDirt managing editor

Saturday's race: 25th of 30 originally scheduled Super Late Model events from Jan. 22-March 7 (five nights rained out or cancelled).

Venue: Golden Isles Speedway near Brunswick, Ga.

Race details: The Wieland Winternationals wrap up with a $25,000-to-win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event.

Weather forecast: Foggy early, then partly cloudy later in the day (22 percent chance of precipitation). High 84F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph; Partly cloudy skies in evening, overcast later (23 percent chance of precipitation). Low 63F. Winds light and variable.

Who's Hot: A sizzling Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., whose outdoor season ended with four straight victories in 2025, grabbed his third win in a row at Golden Isles after going winless at the Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout in Arizona.

Who's Not: Carson Ferguson of Lincolnton, N.C., whose been 19th or worse in the last four Lucas Oil events.

DirtonDirt prediction: Hudson O’Neal of Martinsville, Ind., ends Davenport’s three-race winning streak in the $25,000 Golden Isles finale. — Todd Turner

Around the Pits: Jonathan Davenport’s 95th career Lucas Oil Series victory officially puts him No. 1 on the tour’s all-time list of Scott Bloomquist and his 94 victories. … Davenport’s seventh Speedweeks victory at Golden Isles ties Bloomquist of the all-time lead. … Hudson O’Neal is the lone driver to eclipse the $100,000 mark in Speedweeks earnings.

Next Lucas Oil events: March 27-28 at Atomic Speedway near Chillicothe, Ohio, and Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway.

This Date in Dirt Late Model History: On March 7, 2014, Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga., captured the National Dirt Racing League’s Tennessee Tipoff at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn. McDowell led all 40 laps in outrunning Chris Madden, Ray Cook, Billy Ogle Jr. and Kent Robinson.

Speedweeks trivia: What driver's car flew upside down over the turns three and four guardrail 21 years ago at Volusia Speedway Park, ending up among trees outside the track? (Answer below; Friday's answer: Wayne Shugart of St. Augustine, Fla., with 10 victories, has the most Speedweeks victories without being a member of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame.)
