Bobby Pierce celebrates a $20,000 payday at Marshalltown.
What won the race: Slipping by early leader Nick Hoffman as he was hampered by lapped traffic on the 15th lap, fourth-starting Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., led the rest of Tuesday's 50-lap FloRacing Night in America Series feature at Marshalltown Speedway. Pierce led largely unchallenged and pulled away after a lap-34 restart, winning by 2.763 seconds over Brandon Sheppard for the $20,000 paycheck, his first series victory of the season and 11th of his career, further extending his lead on the sixth-year tour's all-time list.
Quotable: "I didn’t want a caution to happen while I was in second, I wanted to get the lead. (I) definitely gave it a little time to not burn my edges off," Pierce said. "The tires that (Nick) Hoffman had on, I figured just give it some time and they’d start to fade, cause he went a little softer. Man, the car was good, it was a dream to drive this car."
Key notes: Pierce picked up his first FloRacing victory since July 23, 2025, at Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway and his 25th overall feature win of the season. ... Nick Hoffman led the opening 14 laps from the pole before giving way to Pierce and slipping to third on a lap-16 restart, then drew the race's second caution a lap later when he lost power steering and pushed up near the turn-two wall; Hoffman pitted and continued until lap 32 when he pulled off after getting lapped by Pierce. ... Brandon Sheppard took second from Hoffman on the lap-16 restart then held off a charging Hudson O'Neal in the closing laps to finish runner-up. ... The 17th-starting O'Neal, winner of the previous three FloRacing visits to Marshalltown, overcame a heat race spin and nearly took second from Sheppard on the 46th lap before hopping the turn-three cushion on lap 47 and settling for third. ... Devin Moran ran as high as third before making a miraculous save on lap 38 after contact with O'Neal, then O'Neal powered around him a lap later, dropping Moran to fourth. ... Ryan Gustin improved 11 positions and finished seventh aboard a new Infinity Chassis. ... Besides the lap-17 caution for Hoffman slowing, the race was halted two other times, first for third-running Dan Ebert's flat right-rear tire on lap 16; Ebert pitted to change the flat but retired under green 10 laps later. ... Josh Rice spun from 12th on lap 34 for the final stoppage then called it a night. ... The 50-lapper lasted 23 minutes with 14 starters completing the distance. ... The FloRacing doubleheader concludes with Wednesday’s 50-lap, $20,000-to-win debut at Mason City (Iowa) Motor Speedway; both events serve as the opening rounds of the Hawkeye State Great 8 points fund offering a $10,000 total payout, with $2,500 to the driver who earns the most points over the four-race Iowa stretch, including Aug. 21-22’s World of Outlaws-sanctioned Hawkeye 100 at Maquoketa Speedway (1. $2,500; 2. $1,450; 3. $1,200; 4. $1,100; 5. $1,050; 6. $1,000; 7. $900; 8. $800).
On the move: Hudson O'Neal of Martinsville, Ind., started 17th and finished third.
