Bobby Pierce repeated his 2023 WoO triumph at I-94 EMR Speedway.
What won the race: Overtaking polesitter Dallon Murty on the fourth lap, series points leader Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., cruised the rest of Wednesday's 40-lap World of Outlaws Late Model Series feature for his third straight series victory. The fourth-starting Pierce took the checkers 0.808 of a second ahead of Nick Hoffman for his series-leading 13th triumph.
Quotable: "I hated seeing that caution with two (laps) to go because I really had a rhythm there, but, all in all, man, this is great," Pierce said. " I mean, to start this whole trip, these 10 races with three wins, this is just incredible. I definitely would not have thunk that heading into it, but here we are and we're just gonna keep plugging away and see if we can keep getting them."
Key notes: Bobby Pierce notched his 55th career series victory in winning on his second straight trip to I-94 (he won in 2023; the previous two events rained out). ... Pierce also won three in a row on the circuit from April 11-30. ... Runner-up Nick Hoffman started third, faded to eighth after 10 laps and rallied in the second half of the race. ... Six cautions slowed the action, the first on the second lap for Eli Johnson's flat tire. ... On the 14th lap, Laela Eisenschenk slowed just in front of the leading Pierce on the backstretch. ... Ethan Dotson on lap 19 stopped with a flat tire and replaced it in the pits. ... On the lap-19 restart, an infield tire barrier was struck and it bounded onto the racing surface (Hoffman said he hit it on purpose). ... Tyler Bruening slowed on the 35th lap. ... The last yellow flag dropped on the 39th lap when Logan Zarin went around in turns three and four. ... The 29-minute feature concluded at 10:26 p.m. with 19 drivers on the lead lap. ... In prelims, Pierce, notched his 100th WoO heat victory. ... Rain earlier in the day threatened the event, but former track owner Don Shaw whipped the surface into shape. ... Drake Troutman, fifth in World of Outlaws standings, parted ways with Team 22 Inc. owner G.R. Smith and has a deal in place to run for a Jerry Foster-owned team. Former WoO regular Jake Timm will run his equipment carrying No. 22 to continue the full-time series status for Smith's team. ... The series announced that Monday is the makeup date in case Sunday's event is rained out at Nodak Speedway in Minot, N.D.
On the move: Rookie Trey Mills of St. Augustine, Fla., started 14th and finished sixth.
