What won the race: Scoring a national touring upset, World of Outlaws Late Model Series rookie contender Logan Zarin of Hookstown, Pa., led all 25 non-stop laps from outside the front row Friday for a series semifeature victory at Marion Center Raceway. Zarin pocketed $6,000 in the first 25-lap twin semi that opened the Connor Bobik Memorial weekend, finishing 1.3 seconds ahead of polesitter Brent Larson.

In the first corner on the first lap, three No. 1 cars — Zarin, Brent Larson and Tyler Erb — got nearly three-wide with Zarin emerging from the outside lane and leading the rest of the caution-free race. ... The seven-minute race concluded at 7:56 p.m. ... Trevor Collins slipped off the turn-four cushion and made minor contact with the wall on his second qualifying lap. ... Andrew Yoder spun in turn one during time trials, but avoided contact. ... John Weaver and Aden Boozel didn't time-trial. ... The 16th annual Connor Bobik Memorial honors 5-year-old Connor Bobik, who died on Feb. 2, 2011, from brain cancer. … The two-day program concludes with Saturday’s 60-lap, $30,000-to-win finale.
