Mason Zeigler and supporters celebrate his second ULMS win this season.
What won the race: Regaining control for the final time after Brock Pinkerous and Demetrios Drellos were eliminated on lap 46, polesitter Mason Zeigler of Chalk Hill, Pa., led the final five laps in capturing Friday's fifth annual Ted Siri Memorial at Outlaw Speedway. Zeigler led three times for 34 laps (1-13, 21-36, 46-50) in beating Jon Lee by 2.816 seconds for the $10,000 payday, his ninth career Jay's Automotive United Late Model Series victory and second of the season.
Key notes: Reigning ULMS champ Mason Zeigler notched his second series victory after winning May 2's season opener at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, W.Va., worth $5,080. ... Zeigler led the opening 13 laps before giving way to Dave Hess Jr., a three-time ULMS winner at Outlaw. Hess led seven laps (14-20) until retiring under the race's fourth caution after apparent driveline failure on lap 21; he was credited with 17th. ... Zeigler resumed command until teenager Brock Pinkerous took control on the 37th lap; Pinkerous led twice for seven laps (37-42, 45) amid a battle with seventh-starting Demetrios Drellos, giving way to Drellos on the 43rd lap, before retaking command and leading lap 45. ... The sixth and final yellow flag flew on lap 46 for an apparent incident that eliminated Drellos and Pinkerous; Drellos was later disqualified and moved to 19th in the final rundown after apparent retaliation under the race's final stoppage. ... There were six lead changes among Zeigler, Hess, Pinkerous and Drellos. ... Jon Lee slipped by Greg Oakes for second on lap 47. ... Billy Pauch Jr. made his second career Late Model start and first since last Oct. 31 at Georgetown (Del.) Speedway. ... Run in conjunction with NASCAR weekend at the nearby Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International, the event honored Ted Siri, father of Outlaw Speedway owner, Tyler Siri. Ted was an outdoor enthusiast, including a love for fishing and dirt track racing; he died in 2021 at the age of 78. ... The 50-lap feature lasted 39 minutes with 10 starters completing the distance.
