What won the race: Winning for the second year in a row at Georgetown Speedway, fifth-starting Devin Moran of Dresden, Ohio, overtook Hudson O'Neal on the seventh lap and led the rest of Saturday's Melvin L. Joseph Memorial on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The reigning Lucas Oil champ and series points leader pocketed $21,049 in taking the checkers 0.570 of a second ahead of O'Neal for his fifth tour victory of the season.
Quotable: "Today was pretty much what racing is like all the time. You go from low to high to low to high," Moran said, thanking the teams of Garrett Alberson and Brandon Sheppard for assistance with mechanical issues in prelims. "It's tough out here sometimes, and tonight one of the nights that proves as long as you keep fighting, the end will come for sure."
Key notes: Runner-up Hudson O'Neal pressured Devin Moran late when the leader was hung up behind slower cars including Freddie Carpenter and Brandon Overton. ... Moran's night didn't start so well as he went to a backup car for time trials, then blew an oil line in his heat race. ... Moran has 27 full-field Lucas Oil Series victories. ... Four cautions slowed the action, the first on the seventh lap when third-running Ricky Thornton Jr., the polesitter, slowed with a broken driveshaft. ... Home-state drivers Donald Lingo Jr. and Ross Robinson got tangled up in turn two on the eighth lap. ... On the 13th lap, Brenden Smith spun in turn three. ... A yellow flag dropped on the 20th lap for Dan Ebert's flat tire. ... A lap-23 caution fell as Danny Snyder and Ross Robinson both slowed. ... Drake Troutman broke a valve and loaded up before time trials. ... Matt Glanden scratched after issues in hot laps. ... Daniel Hilsabeck arrived late after having transporter problems en route. ... The event honored the former NASCAR sportsman and modified winning car owner who designed Dover Motor Speedway; he died April 6, 2005, at 83.
On the move: Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., started ninth and finished third; Josh Rice of Crittenden, Ky., started 16th and finished sixth.
