Kyle Beard en route to his first Comp Cams victory of the season.
What won the race: Kyle Beard of Trumann, Ark., outdueled race-long leader Tanner English in a fierce lapped-traffic battle, taking the lead for good with five laps remaining to win Saturday’s caution-free Comp Cams Super Dirt Series Cow Patty feature at Old No. 1 Speedway in Harrisburg, Ark., for his first tour victory since May 2023. English finished 0.677 seconds behind Beard after leading 24 of 30 laps.
Quotable: “That was a good one. … I think I just got lucky," Beard said in victory lane. "I thought I passed ‘em a couple times, but then they were still right there. It was a wild one. It was a pretty good race. Definitely could get around the top in one and two pretty good and had to run the bottom in three and four.”
Key notes: It marked Beard’s 26th career Comp Cams victory, with eight of those wins now coming at Old No. 1. His last on tour came May 6, 2023, at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Ark. ... Beard trailed English by nearly two seconds on lap 15 before quickly erasing the gap in lapped traffic, making up most of his ground on the top. By lap 21, he was within a tenth, then edged ahead at the line by 0.020 seconds on the next circuit to lead lap 22. English answered a lap later, diving underneath as Beard washed up in turns three and four to retake the lead on laps 23-26. That’s when Beard regrouped with another rally around the top, clipping English by 0.009 seconds to lead lap 27 before clearing him for good on lap 28. The two made contact three times down the stretch — a byproduct of hard racing — on laps 21, 26 and 28. ... Morgan Bagley of Longview, Texas, started 12th and finished 13th after winning Friday's Comp Cams feature at Poplar Bluff (Mo.) Motorsports Park. ... Eighteen drivers finished on the lead lap in the nonstop feature, which whisked by in just eight minutes.
On the move: Cade Dillard of Robeline, La., started 18th and finished 10th.
