What won the race: Racing unchallenged after overtaking Trent Ivey for the lead on lap three, Tucker Anderson of Blairsville, Ga., recorded a dominant victory in Friday night’s 40-lap Brad York Memorial at Lavonia Speedway. The 19-year-old driver beat Kenny Collins by 2.772 seconds to earn $5,004 for his third triumph of the season on the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series.

Quotable: “We put (the car) back together and she’s just pretty good,” Anderson said. “This thing was basically a frame starting Monday and we worked all week, and worked late every night. I went to qualify and something happened to my carburetor, my motor wouldn't run, and I was pretty frustrated. I just knew we had to put our heads down and work right there.”

Key notes: Anderson’s fifth career Southern All Star win was his first since April 10 at Hartwell (Ga.) Motor Speedway, ending an eight-race winless slump on the tour. … The race’s two caution flags — on laps 31 and 33 — didn’t hamper Anderson, who easily drove away on each restart. … Collins’s lap-30 pass of Ivey for third proved to be critical when second-running Brent Dixon slowed the following circuit due to a blown right-rear tire. Collins took over second place and repelled a last-lap bid from Ivey, who led laps 1-2, to secure runner-up money. … Collins, who drove a Savage Race Car he just got back from builder Jason Welshan last Tuesday, was in action after cutting his leg around 1 o’clock and needing 10 stitches to close the wound. … Teenager Beckham Malone brought out the second caution on lap 33 when he slowed while running fifth. He rallied to to finish sixth. … Zack Mitchell pulled his Team 22 Inc. machine off the track on lap 25 while running fifth. … Billy Franklin didn’t start the feature after breaking a driveshaft during the parade laps. … The event honored Brad York of Toccoa, Ga., the former racer and Toccoa Raceway track promoter who was recently elected into the Lavonia Speedway Hall of Fame; he served as Lavonia race director and died Nov. 30, 2023, at 62. ... The race lasted 18 minutes with seven starters completing 40 laps.

On the move: Kendall Franklin of Calera, Ala., started ninth and finished fourth.
