Jesse Glenz (7) goes by Pat Doar en route to victory.
What won the race: Using a turn-four slide job to overtake race-long leader Pat Doar amid traffic on the 38th lap, fourth-starting Jesse Glenz of Chippewa Falls, Wis., paced the final three circuits of Saturday's 40-lap Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series feature at Rice Lake Speedway. Glenz beat Doar by 1.129 seconds in the caution-free event for his second $4,000 payday in as many nights and seventh career tour victory.
Quotable: "I tried, I think, every line possible there, kinda got up to (Pat Doar) and he gapped me there," Glenz said before later adding, "once it goes to 10 to go I’m just gonna burn the right-rear off and see if I could just wail that cushion around and get some momentum on him. I got a run and there was a lapper there too, but I’m like ‘Alright I’ll go in the middle,’ and it was just enough to squeak by. I can’t believe we did it again."
Key notes: Glenz sliced through lapped traffic the final few laps and pulled away to sweep the WISSOTA Challenge Series weekend after leading all 40 laps the previous night at Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wis. ... It was his fourth overall win this season, adding to May 30's Diamond 48 triumph in Dirt Kings Tour action at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, Wis., and Aug. 1's $2,500 victory on the USA Nationals undercard at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. ... Second-starting Pat Doar led the opening 37 laps from the outside front row until Glenz slipped by at the completion of lap 38 as they raced through heavy lapped traffic; Doar kept pace with Glenz over the final few circuits, but couldn't draw alongside. ... Cory Crapser passed polesitter Adam Hensel for third on lap three and kept pace with Doar and Glenz for the race's first half, but faded to nearly two seconds back at the checkers; Hensel backslid to finish seventh. ... Eleventh-starting Kevin Burdick used a last-lap pass to steal fourth from Jake Redetzke, relegating Redetzke to fifth. ... The green-to-checkered feature lasted just shy of 12 minutes with 17 starters completing 40 laps and 19 running at the finish.
On the move: Tyler Peterson of Hickson, N.D., started 16th and finished eighth.
